How often have you had that feeling of having a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear? It's actually a very common situation but it doesn't need to be that way and I'm going to tell you how to turn things around so you always feel like you have something to wear.
Most women are only wearing 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. Just pause for a second and have a think about that, visualise that 20% and visualise that 80% what’s the value of that 80%? Probably something you avoid thinking about right?
But it’s getting even harder to ignore our unworn, labels-still-attached purchases, especially now with all the media messages hitting us everyday about the cost of fashion on the environment, so its not just our pockets that are being hit, we’ve also now got something else to feel guilty about!
How did you end up with a wardrobe full of stuff you hardly wear? And when you do wear it it doesn’t make you feel great and you don't really love it, you're just wearing it because you spent money on it and feel like you should. More guilt, right?
How did it get to this?
You just weren’t picky enough. That’s it.
You compromised, you told yourself ‘it’ll do’, you held back on buying the stuff you really loved because you were worried it was a bit bold, or when you would wear it or what you would wear it with and stuck with the ‘safe’ stuff. So now you’ve got a wardrobe full of ‘safe’ and ‘it’ll do’ clothes. Sound familiar?
Don’t worry hun, I’ve got a solution for you.
What if you actually regularly wore almost everything in your wardrobe?
Obviously there’s a time and a place for things like ballgowns, bikinis and flip flops but you CAN have a wardrobe that you wear 80% of 80% of the time... imagine that!
It’s going to take a bit of practice and its going to take a complete change of mindset about clothes and shopping, but you're going to feel really good about it.
Here’s the thing, if you had a wardrobe full of only stuff that you really LOVE and feel really good in, it would be hard not to wear all of it, wouldn’t it?
And it is possible to have a wardrobe full of stuff you love, I can’t tell you how to fall in love with stuff you've already bought, that you are just never going to wear, but if you follow my two simple steps below you WILL get that wardrobe you love.
Two simple steps...
Whatever kind of shopping you do, impulse, supermarket, ‘it’ll do’, online, in store or panic buy, these two simple steps will revolutionise your wardrobe.
1. When you shop, wear one thing that you really LOVE, it can be an item of clothing, a lippy, shoes, a pair of earrings, anything but you must absolutely love it.
Impulse shoppers keep a picture of yourself in this item on your phone so you always have a visual reminder of how it makes you feel.
2. Before you hand over your hard earned money to the shop assistant, ideally when you're in the changing rooms if you have time to try on, or if you’re at home trying on, ask yourself if you LOVE this thing as much as you love the other thing. Does it make you feel at least as good as that?
If the answer is no PUT IT BACK or SEND IT BACK!!!
It’s as simple as that.
The results...
If you follow these TWO steps, you’ll only buy stuff you really love, it WILL all work together and you will always find somewhere to wear it to because you love it.
Then before you know it, you are the proud owner of wardrobe full of clothes you love! And every time you open your wardrobe you’ll get that little buzz you get when you're shopping, only this time its costing you less money, less guilt and it’s better for the environment because you’ll buy less and wear sooo much more of it!
